Does it sound like conspiracy to you? Probably not. However, yellow has continued to have a checkered (taxi pun, hmm, possibly intended) year as reported by the Washington Post. It seems that your Xerox printer has been sending out a monochromatic beacon disguised inside your printouts, and the government is watching. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the article reports that an intern from the EFF cracked the yellow dot “code” in a week.
