The event actually happened on 27 October 2005, but here are the pictures from the big playground project that over a hundred people (including me) volunteered to build out in Sumner Park in East Point, Georgia. Among the interesting things I learned that day was in addition to that there are only 3 outdoor velodromes in the United States, one apparently is in Indianapolis, which I thought was kind of strange. But — what I thought was most interesting is that Indianapolis and Atlanta (or at least north Georgia) are both big NASCAR places and both have one of the very few outdoor velodromes. Anyhow, I thought that was an interesting coincidence. Here are some pictures of the dig site and the build event :: http://www.eastpointliving.com/sumnerpark/. At the start of the day, there were just a bunch of holes in the ground, and by the end there was a fully loaded playground in a 1.5 foot bed of mulch.
