Finally uploaded the first test Chumby widget this weekend. Invader Drones is a simple widget with limited interactive capabilities. I originally created the flash movie for this some years ago as a web front page design for LifeFormProject.com (now no longer online) which was an experimental electronic online music label in Atlanta, GA. Each invader is matched by its own FM synthesis tone, and the volume of the tone is determined by the Y-position of the invader on the screen. The combination of the movements of the 3 invaders makes the overall sound of the widget change in interesting ways. Rolling over or moving your finger over an invader on the Chumby will stop the invader and therefore lock its audio position as well. The configuration panel for the widget also allows for muting the sound entirely for simple visual candy.
